ABOUT CHRIS CORBIN

My name is Chris Corbin. I’m a priest in the Episcopal Church and serve Trinity Episcopal Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin as priest-in-charge. I also have a PhD in theology. I wish I could say that I have tons of interests beyond the work I do, but, other than cats, Community, and deviled eggs, I really don’t. My vocation, passions, and energy all aim at helping the church to spread the Good News that in Jesus Christ God has overcome the powers of Sin and death and made it possible for us to be in a relationship with God again. My part in all this comes in the form of communication and eduction—I want denominations, churches, and individual Christians to gain better clarity about what this Good News is and then equip them to tell that story in a way that the world can best hear it.

 EARTH AND ALTAR

Outside of my work for Trinity, I’m editor-in-chief for Earth & Altar, a blog, magazine, and soon-to-be podcast network that promotes inclusive orthodoxy. What’s inclusive orthodoxy you ask? At it’s core, it’s the idea that you can say the Nicene and Apostles’ creeds without crossing your fingers while accepting women and LGBTQ+ people as part of the full life and leadership of the church (you can read more of my thoughts about what inclusive orthodoxy means here). Earth & Altar is all about promoting the voices of people who have been historically marginalized or ignored by the church, especially because they weren’t old enough, didn’t live in the right places, didn’t have the right skin tone, or didn’t love the right people. We’re always looking for new contributors, so please get ahold of me if you’re interested in pitching something to write about.
